As a first-year bachelor’s student I participated in the Boston University Research, Education, Communication & Science (BURECS) program in the Antarctic paleoclimate research lab.

As a BURECS student I contributed to ongoing paleoclimate research by processing samples containing diatoms from the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica.

Additionally, I worked to develop educational video content conveying our research to secondary-school level students.

In 2018 the Antarctic Research Program at Boston University was closed when the PI was found guilty of sexual misconduct against his female graduate students.

Sexual harassment, assault, and gender bias are challenges faced by many women (and other minority groups) in science.
